YOU ARE THE SOLUTION
The success of public education depends on you. The system operates best when issues are openly debated, public will becomes policy via elected officials, results are observed, evaluated, and changes made as needed. Without you, bureaucracy fills the void and begins to exclude the very people who created the system to begin with. Here is a simple plan to put education back in the hands of local parents, teachers, and taxpayers:
Join a group of citizens who share the responsibility of attending school board meetings and report back to the group. An informed citizenry is critical. An observed government is equally important.

Share the importance of education issues with others. Network with people who are already involved and those who could become involved.
Get involved in a campaign. You should consider running for school board, district community council or school community council positions. If you would prefer not run, support those individuals who are running campaigns with whom you share their principles.

Facebook is an ideal medium for sharing information with others. This website contains videos, position statements, and news items you can post and comment on. Start a conversation today.
GOT 30 MINUTES?
Get a few lawn signs and put them around your neighborhood. Talking with your neighbors is the most important thing that can be done. If neighbors get informed and involved, everyone benefits.
GOT 60 MINUTES?
Attend a cottage meeting or debate. Show your support and be involved in the public debate and discussion of education issues.
GOT AN EVENING FREE?
Become a member of the Alpine Parent Society. Attend 1 or 2 school board meetings every year and write up an overview for the other members. Public officials think differently when the public is right there watching them. They deserve our support when they do right and they need our push-back when they drift off the principles they claimed when they ran for office.
